Some aggrieved youth of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Atwima Mponua Constituency of the Ashanti Region, on Friday destroyed the offices of the party in a bid to draw attention to their plight.

The angry youth, numbering over 50, claimed they have been neglected by a number of their political leadership, including their Member of Parliament (MP), Isaac Kwame Asiamah, who also happens to be the immediate past Minister responsible for youth and sports, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area, William Yaw Darko, and the NPP’s Constituency Chairman, Isaac Kofi Marfo.

They said since the party won power some four and half years ago they have not benefited from any employment opportunity as true and loyal party supporters, hence their decision to destroy the party office. Wielding stones, sticks metals and any other thing they could lay their hands on the angry youth destroyed the glass doors and windows us well as furniture and documents in the party office.

According to them their action was deliberate as it is the only way they could draw urgent attention to their concerns from the MP and other members of the political leadership.

They told journalists in an interview, “yes we the youth stormed the office of Atwima Mponua Constituency NPP office and damaged all the things. We want president of the Republic of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to get us a responsible DCE, who would not be the choice of our incompetent MP Hon. Issac Kwame Asiamah,”.

They are of the strongest conviction that the MP is the cause of all the political challenges in Atwima Mponua that are refusing to go away.
