Auditor General’s Report reveals worsening Financial Irregularities under President Akufo-Addo

In 2020, a total of Ghc13 billion was lost to corruption and irregularities while in 2021, Ghc17.5 billion was lost.

A comparative analysis of financial loss that Ghana has been incurring due to irregularities has been worsening since Akufo-Addo became President in 2017.

The report was compiled by the Auditor-General (A-G).

In 2020, a total of Ghc13 billion was lost to corruption and irregularities while in 2021, Ghc17.5 billion was lost.

Cumulatively, therefore, per the Auditor General’s report over Ghc35billion has been lost to irregularities since 2017 when Akufo-Addo became President.

The report lists the irregularities as comprising unrecovered state debts, cash irregularities, payroll irregularities, procurement irregularities, tax irregularities, stores irregularities, COVID-19 irregularities and contract irregularities.
