In a significant move ahead of the People’s National Convention (PNC) internal elections, Awudu Ishaq, has officially entered the race for the position of General Secretary. Supported by a group of friends and family, Ishaq’s nomination forms were picked up at the PNC Headquarters in Accra earlier today, signaling the beginning of his campaign.

Ishaq, who currently serves as the PNC’s National Communications Secretary, brings a wealth of experience to the table, having held various positions within the party since joining in 2002. His political journey has seen him rise from Deputy Constituency Secretary in the Wa Central Constituency to Regional Secretary for the Upper West Region, and later to National Youth Organizer.

In a statement, Ishaq emphasized his deep commitment to the party, noting that his candidacy is the culmination of years of dedication and hard work. He reflected on the challenges the PNC has faced since its founding in 1992, particularly the internal divisions that have plagued the party in recent years. Despite these challenges, Ishaq expressed confidence in his ability to lead the party toward a successful campaign in the 2024 general elections.

“I am of the firm and utmost belief and conviction that the party needs tried, tested, and proven brains to lead its charge ahead of the 2024 elections, considering the bitter factionalism that held it back for the past three years,” Ishaq stated. “I am never in doubt that I have what it takes to steer the affairs of the party successfully to meet the expectations and aspirations of the grassroots.”
