Awutu Senya East: Hawa Koomson and NDC Parliamentary Candidate engage in heated exchange on live TV during debate
The Community Manifesto was intended to bring to the fore the issues bothering the constituency with a debate from the two politicians.
Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East, Hawa Koomson was engaged in a heated confrontation with her opponent, the NDC parliamentary candidate, Phillis Naa Koryoo Okunor during a live debate on TV3’s Community Manifesto.
The Community Manifesto was intended to bring to the fore the issues bothering the constituency with a debate from the two politicians.
During the course of the live debate which is yet-to-be aired, Hawa Koomson criticised the NDC’s parliamentary candidate suggesting that she is not informed with issues to be able to debate her.
Hawa Koomson called on the NDC supporters to consider changing their candidate because “she is not on top of issues.”
“She is not on top of issues. You see, if you want to do chew and pour, you have to get it and learn well so that you will have your facts,” she said.
But while Hawa Koomson was speaking, the constituents interrupted calling for change.
The NPP MP responded by saying “Yes, you need to change your candidate because she is not, not, not. They need to change her.”
In responding to Hawa Koomson’s statement, Phillis Naa Koryoo Okunor implored Hawa Koomson to commit to an intellectual debate.
“I believe we are here to debate on issues. I believe we are here as intellectuals; I believe we are here as mature minds, and we are here to debate on issues,” Naa Koryoo furiously noted.
