The Parliamentary Candidate (PC) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the impending by-election in the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency, Brempon Kwasi Delali, has cautioned the Boss of the Electoral Commission, Jean Mensah against any attempt to rig the elections in favor of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The Electoral Commission, EC has served notice it will hold a by-election per Ghana’s constitution following the death of the Member of Parliament (MP) for that area, Emmanuel Kyeremanteng Agyarko.
In an interview with ghananewsonline.com.gh in Accra, Brempon Delali hinted he will resist any attempt by the NPP to rig the by-election with the help of the EC considering the danger NPP sensed, in view of the current hardships in the country.
“I have learned from my mistakes, and I will resist any attempt by the NPP to carry out their usual multiple voting just as they did in 2016 elections”, he warned.
He explained that the NPP carried out multiple voting on Legon Campus as well as certain areas where they dominate and this happened with the connivance of some EC officials, where a voter was issued with numerous ballot papers to do multiple voting.
He said out that the Electoral Commission intentionally denied the NDC’s agents accreditation in those areas for several hours, whilst voting was on-going.
The NDC PC cautioned the Electoral Commission and its officials not to take his calmness for granted, because he will not allow the EC’s usual deals with the NPP to succeed.
“……especially so following what Ghanaians witnessed in the just ended referendum on the creation of new regions where some people were allowed multiple voting,” he warned.
Brempon Delali, said he is poised to grab the Parliamentary seat of the area and nothing will stop him.
The enthusiastic PC said there is every indication that the NDC can take the seat, hence, the campaign starts immediately. He will walk to his two competitors, Selassie Dede Agbo and Ekwow Acquah to seek their usual corporation so they can campaign vigorously until the NDC snatch the seat.
Though we gathered that the NDC’s campaign will be run from the national headquarters, Brempon said he will not relent in his efforts but would be focused so he can get parliament.
