Residents of Ledzokuku have accused the Member of Parliament for the area, Benjamin Nartey Ayiku, and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of thwarting the developmental efforts of the NPP’s Parliamentary candidate, Dr Bernard Okoe Boye.

According to a statement signed by the Concerned Residents of Ledzokuku, the attitude of the MP and his thugs is hindering development despite commendable efforts by Dr Okoe Boye.

One significant obstacle the group highlighted is the opposition faced during the construction of the highly anticipated Teshie Sports Complex. The statement jointly signed by Samuel Laryea (Convenor) and Stephen Ayensu ( Secretary) said despite resistance from the current MP and the NDC, Dr Okoe Boye’s unwavering commitment ensured the realization of the astroturf, providing a much-needed space for community recreation and cohesion.

Similarly, they mentioned that the ongoing construction of the NHIA Claims Processing Center (CPC), a crucial initiative spearheaded by Dr. Okoe Boye, faced obstruction tactics from Hon. Ayiku. They added that the circulation of obstructive letters and other actions aimed to impede progress on this essential community and national resource.

“The expansion of the Teshie Community Clinic, aimed at enhancing healthcare services for residents, also encountered hurdles. Dr Okoe Boye’s efforts were thwarted as attention was diverted by Hon. Ayiku and the NDC towards superficial activities, leaving the project in a state of suspended development.”

“Reports of the destruction of images and signage depicting Dr Okoe Boye further reflect the contentious political climate in the constituency, raising questions about the integrity of opposition tactics.”

The group called on the media, security agencies, and stakeholders, and residents to demand attention to address these challenges.
