Ghana defender Baba Rahman is reported to be in stable condition after suffering a severe head injury during a Greek Cup match on Wednesday evening.

The incident occurred in the 115th minute of the semi-final clash between PAOK and Panathinaikos when Rahman collided with an opponent and lost consciousness.

The left-back was immediately attended to by the medical team, who rushed onto the pitch to provide prompt treatment and prevent any further complications.

Rahman was subsequently transported to the hospital via ambulance, where he received further treatment and is said to be responding well.

The incident brought a sombre mood to the game, which ended in a 6-5 victory for Panathinaikos via a penalty shootout.

Despite the outcome, PAOK officials and fans would be more concerned about Rahman’s health and safety, as he has been an integral part of the team since his permanent transfer from Chelsea.

Rahman, who recently opted out of Ghana’s AFCON 2023 squad to focus on his club career, has been in excellent form for PAOK, registering two goals and three assists in his previous appearances.

His absence from the team will undoubtedly be felt, but the club’s primary concern at present is his speedy recovery and well-being.
