Bawumia, Adaklu Chiefs Sign Fresh Deal
When he got the opportunity to speak, the Vice President touted the many developmental projects the Akufo-Addo-led NPP government has done for not only Adaklu but the entire country.
Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia has asked the chiefs and people of Adaklu and surrounding areas to vote for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the December 7 general election for more development.
This was after the Paramount Chief of the Adaklu Traditional Area, Togbe Gbogbi Atsa V, commended government for the various developmental projects it has undertaken in the area.
“We the people of Adaklu are grateful to the government for interventions such as the Free SHS and also retooling the Adaklu Senior High School (SHS). Our youth are indeed benefiting from these interventions,” was how he put it when Dr. Bawumia, who is the presidential candidate of the governing NPP, paid a courtesy call on him as part of his campaign tour of the Volta Region yesterday.
But, like the proverbial Oliver Twist, Togbe Gbogbi Atsa V asked for more.
When he got the opportunity to speak, the Vice President touted the many developmental projects the Akufo-Addo-led NPP government has done for not only Adaklu but the entire country.
In the case of Adaklu, he said, “We gave you the first potable drinking water. We have built a Youth Resource Centre; a stadium here in Adaklu. We have brought a District Police Command here to Adaklu in Waya; we have built a Magistrate Court just as we’ve done in every district with bungalows.”
Apart from that, Dr. Bawumia said, “We are building Agenda 111 Hospital right here in Adaklu,” which he said was going to benefit the chiefs and people in area.
On his part, Togbe Gbogbi Atsa V said the people of Adaklu are grateful to the government for interventions such as the Free SHS and also retooling the Adaklu SHS, stating that “our youth are indeed benefiting from these interventions, although more can be done.”
That, he said, tells of the NPP’s philosophy in economic development.
Meanwhile, Dr. Bawumia indicated that “when the NDC was in government for 16 years, they built the road for you. But we (referring to the NPP) are making a lot of effort in many areas.”
The flagbearer of NPP thus assured that, “Adaklu will do better under the NPP and under Dr. Bawumia because we have shown what we can do.”
He could not hide his excitement on seeing a considerable number of Fulanis, whom he referred to as his in laws, at the programme which was a stakeholder engagement to solicit for the views of community and opinion leaders.
