Bawumia Challenge: NDC Lists Several ‘Mahama Projects’ in the Northern Region

The Northern Regional communications office of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has debunked claims by the Vice President, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia concerning lack of social intervention programs in that region during the erstwhile Mahama-led government.

According to them, the current government has done little compared to the past government (NDC) in the Northern Region as far as developmental projects are concerned.

“It is quite clear that, Dr. Bawumia and his NPP comes nowhere close to the superior records of HE John Dramani Mahama and the NDC as far as the development of Northern Ghana is concerned.”

In a press statement released on Wednesday, signed by the party’s five regional communication officers in Northern Ghana, and copied to ghananewsonline.com.gh, they asserted that persons in the Northern region will always applaud the development trajectory the region leaned towards during the Mahama-led government. They added that, however, same can not be said under this government considering the hardships it has brought.

“We are very certain this is the pathetic situation of our brother Vice President as his knowledge of Northern Ghana’s development trajectory makes him think all other Northerners are ignorant of our circumstances under HE John Dramani Mahama and the excruciating hardship coupled with the abuse we are going through under this draconian regime.”

The NDC hence outlined several successes under the erstwhile government in terms of social intervention programs and legacies as the Vice President demanded.

Notable amongst them is;

UPPER WEST

Construction of 160 bed Upper West Regional Hospital in Wa

Rehabilitation and upgrade of Wa Airstrip into Airport to support domestic flights

UPPER EAST

Rehabilitation and expansion of Upper East Regional Hospital to meet world standards Bitumen surfacing of Bolga to Bongo road

NORTH EAST REGION

Establishment of the Gambaga College of Education

Construction of 57 km Walewale-Nalerigu road

They further urged Ghanaians not to measure the competence of a northern politician by the standards set by the vice president, rather, all stakeholders should compare their achievement to ex-president Mahama’s before arriving at a conclusion.
