Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has promised to construct a sea defence system and a mini harbour for the people of Sege if elected as Ghana’s next President. His pledge is aimed at addressing the ongoing issue of tidal waves that have affected the area for years, while also promoting economic growth through improved infrastructure for the local fishing industry.
During his tour of the Greater Accra Region, Bawumia addressed chiefs, traditional leaders, and residents of Sege, stressing the urgent need for development in the coastal town. He highlighted Sege’s key role as a fishing hub, which, he said, requires essential infrastructure to safeguard livelihoods and support the local economy.

“We need a mini harbour. So we are going to work on bringing a mini harbour to Sege here for you, and that is a very important thing. And then, of course, very important, we need to do the sea defence for this area,” Bawumia said.
He also assured the community that his government would focus on protecting the coastline with a sea defence system to mitigate the damage caused by tidal waves. “I have a lot to do for you. If I come back in four years, I will have to give an account of what I have done with the sea defence,” he added.
