BECE Candidates’ School Selection Process Starts Today

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has set aside a week to allow the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates select schools of their choice as part of the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS).

The exercise started on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 and is scheduled to end a week later, a letter to Regional Education Directors dated August 26 announced.

“Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) wishes to inform you that, the school selection process is scheduled to commence on Wednesday, 28th August to Wednesday, 4th September, 2024.”

The Service in the letter emphasized the need for parents and guardians to get involved the selection process, adding that it will ensure a smooth placement this year.

It also announced that candidates will have the opportunity to verify their choices through an SMS after the selection process.

“There would be an opportunity for candidates to text to a short code and confirm their school choices before actual placement will be done. Details of the short code will be made communicated in due course.”

It further noted that officers from the Headquarters will be observing the selection exercise across the country.

The school selection process is an opportunity for candidates to choose Senior High Schools (SHS)or Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions for placement.

Candidates will be placed in any of the schools they selected in conformity with their grades.
