Member of Parliament (MP) for the Bibiani Ahwiaso Bekwai Constituency, Alfred Obeng Boateng and the Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) for the Bibiani/Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipal Assembly, Albert  Amoah, have denied ever exchanging words of misunderstanding, let alone exchanging slaps.

According to them they are not only on good terms, but a very cordial one that has led to the enhancement of developments of the area.

This follows an enquiry by our reporter upon claims that the MP, Alfred Obeng Boateng had given hefty slaps to the MCE, Albert Amoah, at a meeting early this month.

When Hon Obeng Boateng was contacted on phone, he expressed surprise at the allegation. Subsequently, he organized a conference call between himself, the MCE and our reporter so as to clear the air on the matter.

They both maintained that they were not only on goods terms, but a very cordial one aimed at enhancing development for the area.

In this respect, when the MP recently embarked on a visit tour of the constituency, the MCE followed him all along, except at Awaso, where the MCE could not show up for obvious reasons.

Even that, the MCE’s wife is alleged to have cooked for the MP. They therefore could not phantom where the wide allegation of slapping was coming from. The MCE suspects this could be a political ploy from their enemy’s camp.

He indicated further that this was not the first time such an allegation had been made about them. He said in the first instance, it emanated from his own cousin – his uncle’s daughter who put up the false information on social media. Mr. Amoah stated that when he informed his uncle and the family about this, they (family) came to render sincere apologies to him.

Mr Obeng Boateng and Amoah, while describing the allegations as baseless and unfounded, urged all to disregard it with the utmost contempt it deserves. They were however quick to point to the camp of former MP for the area, Hon. Aboagye-Gyedu, who also doubled as former Western North Regional Minister.

When Hon. Aboagye- Gyedu was contacted, he also vehemently denied their allegations. He maintained that life after Parliament was a different ball game. According to him, this MP game is very expensive so he does not want to venture into it again, hence his abstention from the contest when nominations were opened.

The former MP said that his attention was solely on the new position given him by Pesident Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

He stated that the current MP held him (Aboagye Gyedu) blamable even for the slightest thing that happened to him, including even bad dreams.

According to him, since “we reap what we sow” the MP was reaping exactly what he sowed, and he should leave him alone.

Meanwhile, we have gathered that this “Slapping Business” was not the first time, even though it had been vehemently denied.

“If your mother has not returned from farm to cook for you, and you claim she has come, who hungers?” We were queried by our sources.
