Boso Chieftaincy Brouhaha: It’ll be a disaster to impose Nenye Osei Nyarko on us – Residents tell House of Chiefs

Residents of Boso – a farming Community in the Asuogyaman District of the Eastern Region has decribed the imposition of Nenye Osei Nyarko the Vice President of the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs as the Omanhene of Boso Gua Traditional Area by the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs as a disaster.

They have therefore appealed to the President of the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs to give the green light to Nenye Nyarko Yeboah III to perform his customary rights as the Omanhene of the area because they claim they have successfully destooled the former Chief.

This was observed in a recent survey conducted by Ghananewsonline.com.gh aimed at seeking the position of the indigenes of the area as the community prepares to meet the judicial commitee of the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs.

It would be remembered that the house of chiefs two years ago passed a motion directing the newly installed Omanhene to cease carrying himself as a Chief, the motion which was in favour of the destooled Chief tasked him to go and perform his customary duties as the Omanhene of Boso Gua Traditional Area.

Considering the judgement of the house of Chiefs it is gathered that the destooled Chief after the motion of the Regional House of Chief’s has not step foot in his home of birth and has highjacked all activities of the traditional council as there has been no Traditional Council meeting for the past years.

This has raised questions about the state of the traditional council and the kind of reports that goes to the Regional House of Chiefs as they are to meet at least three to four times in a year.

“Currently the Boso Gua Traditional Council is not functioning due to absence of a paramount Chief after the distoolment of Nanye Osei Nyarko III,” one of the Divisional chiefs has said.

“Former Chief” as they described Nenye Osei Nyarko III was legally and customary distooled by the Royal family of Boso, the Boso citizens, the Divisional Chiefs of Boso which include Dodi, Tosen, and Nanyor. All the towns and villages within the traditional area supported his destoolment.

Pointing out reasons that trigged his distoolment he explained that, “Nenye Osei Nyarko ruled Boso for 18 years. For all these years he never brought a single development to the area. At any meeting all he does was to quarrel with his own Mankrado. He was so proud and never respected anybody. He was a despotic who never listened to advise of anybody. All efforts were made by his own royal family, the chiefs, opinion leaders, churches, individuals like Original Pay All, Regional House of Chiefs etc to change his ways but all proved futile” an elder who claims to be a Royal of Boso stool has said.

The Community in 2014 protested against the uncooperative and negative behavior of the Omanhene, he never in his 18 years reign paid visit nigther did he honour any invitation of the only health center and Senior high school in the locality but tried on Countless occasion to sabotage the development of this institutions, sighting the construction of maternity and female wards for the Boso health center and a six unit classroom block for the Boso senior high technical school funded by the American embassy together with the national council of boso Community and the Japan embassy respectively.

He further narrated that after the destoolment of the Omanhene and installation of Okotwaasuo Nyarko Yeboah III, there has been some legal battle at the judicial commitee of the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs which was ruled in favour of Nenye Osei Nyarko, directing him to come and perform his functions as the Omanhene but for two solid years he has never step foot in his hometown, there has been no Traditional Council meeting, I wonder the kind of report he sends to the Regional House of Chief’s where he is the Vice President.

It was gathered that even though the community was not pleased with the verdit of the Regional House of Chiefs because almost 99% of the people of Boso Gua Traditional Area have rejected him and they think it is an imposition. Even after the ruling in his favour for two years he has never stepped Boso on a single day. The Regional House of Chiefs should not impose the destooled Chief on us, the national council has tried to reconcile with him on serveral occasions but proved fortile as he has refused to respond to their plea. they have to allow the new Omanhene to perform his traditional duties.

On their part the youth in the area disclosed that the chieftancy litigation has affected the over all development of the Boso Gua state hence appealing to the eminent Chiefs in the Region to help find lasting solution to the issues as the community is staving from development, they also called for co existence within the Divisional Chiefs of the traditional area to end this dispute. the is that Osei Nyarko who has been destooled by his own people should give way to Nyarko Yeboah, the current Omanhene to perform his traditional duties.

However quite a number of people felt due diligence was not taken to the destoolment of the Omanhene even though his activities was inhuman.
