Boso Gua Traditional Council want all visitors tested for Covid-19 before entering Anum-Boso enclave
Traditional rulers of Boso Gua State in the Asuogyaman District of the Eastern Region have appealed to the government to urgently start testing all travellers entering the Anum-Boso enclave for Coronavirus so as to help stop the spread of the pandemic.
This appeal was made last week when ghananewsonline.com.gh interviewed the Omanhene of the Boso Gua Traditional Area, Okotwaasuo Nyarko Yeboah III, after a council meeting last Monday. The meeting which brought together all divisional Chiefs and some opinion leaders in the community was to brainstorm on how to prevent the virus from entering the Boso State and it’s surrounding communities was held at the palace of the Nifa Division of the Boso Gua Traditional council in Tosen.
Okotwaasuo Nyarko Yeboah III remarked that, there is the need for everyone to contribute their qouta towards the fight against the novel coronavirus which has so far had negative impacts on the socioeconomic development of the country and the world at large. This virus has inffected over 3000 lives in Ghana.
“This is a serious desease which needs serious attention, we all need to come on board to support the government win this war, by so doing Nananom has taken some resolutions which we believe if strictly observed could prevent the virus from entering the Gua enclave. This includes our call on government to conduct mass Covid 19 tests on any body entering our enclave at the Osebeng Junction. This will clear the mindset of residents,” he stated.
The Paramount Chief again reminded government on the activities of some Indian citizens who are into fish farming in Dodi Asantekrom – one of the communities of the Traditional Area.
“Their status must be known to us. We urge the government to conduct mass testing on them since they are possible victims of the virus,” he added.
The Omanhene also revealed that the various Divisions within the traditional state have been urged to form a Covid-19 taskforce which would be empowered to ensure that everyone on the Boso Gua land strictly complies with the government’s directives on hand washing, usage of alcohol based hand senitisers, wearing of nose mask expecially food vendors in the locality after vigorous education which they have stated.
According to Okotwaasuo Nyarko Yeboah III, the Traditional council has so far distributed about one thousand nose masks and hand sanitizers to residents, hinting that the council is again in the process of procuring other PPE to help protect the citizen.
He says he is poised to declare the Boso Gua Traditional Area a Covid-19 free state. He called on the sons and daughters of the area to come home and pay their qouta towards the development of the Area.
Dr. Victor Okoh, a former medical director at the Volta River Authority (VRA) and the current Chief medical officer at the Boso Health Center ceased the opportunity to debank rumours that the Boso state has recorded eleven cases as recently captured by Adom TVcorrespondents.
