The reaffirmation of these pledges underscores the NDC’s dedication to inclusive development and the upliftment of skilled workers, making it crucial for artisans to rally behind the party in the upcoming elections to ensure that these promises translate into tangible benefits for their communities.
In a recent address to artisans at Fetteh Kakraba ,in Gomoa east on January 1st, Bright Botchway, the National Deputy Coordinator for Traders and Artisans, reiterated the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) steadfast commitment to supporting artisans and their aspirations.
During the interaction, Botchway reminded the gathering of H.E. John Mahama’s 2020 pledge to absorb apprenticeship fees and create a credit scheme for aspiring artisans. This initiative aims to ease the financial burden on those entering vocations such as carpentry, welding, plumbing, electrical work, and hairdressing.
Furthermore, the NDC plans to establish training schools to keep artisans abreast of technological advancements. Botchway emphasized the importance of adapting to new machines, citing Mahama’s vision to collaborate with organizations like SEDO in creating training schools, similar to the one established in Suame Magazine during their previous term.
The commitment to training with new machines is driven by the recognition that evolving technology is integral to sustaining jobs in various vocations. Botchway highlighted the need for artisans to understand and work with diagnostic machines, as modern vehicles and equipment increasingly rely on them.
“We have you artisans at heart, and we will still do it,” Botchway assured the audience, urging their support for the NDC in the upcoming 2024 elections. The goal is to ensure that the promised initiatives become a reality, fostering job creation and skill development within the artisan community.
As the National Deputy Coordinator for Traders and Artisans, Botchway’s address reflects the party’s commitment to addressing the challenges faced by artisans and traders. The NDC’s vision, as communicated by Botchway, aims to empower artisans, not only by providing financial support but also by equipping them with the skills needed to thrive in an ever-evolving technological landscape.
The reaffirmation of these pledges underscores the NDC’s dedication to inclusive development and the upliftment of skilled workers, making it crucial for artisans to rally behind the party in the upcoming elections to ensure that these promises translate into tangible benefits for their communities.
