Build strategic partnership to take advantage of AfCFTA
In order to take advantage of the Africa Continental free trade agreement (AfCFTA), the business sector have been advised to build strategic partnerships along the various value chain.
Speaking on behalf of the Minister of Trade and Industry (MOTI), Alan Kyeremanten, at the 6th international trade show and conference Agrofood and PlastPrintPack West Africa, the Director of Domestic Trade, Mr. Ntim Donkor said, the signing of the AfCFTA, the secretariat of which is been hosted by Ghana is a major game changer in our export drive.
“The AfCFTA has a potential market of 1.2 billion coupled with emerging high middle class and youthful population in the continent, the is enormous market opportunity that cannot be ignored,” Mr. Donkor said.
Government has identified the agro-processing sector as one of its priority industries as it seeks to diversify the economy. The sector has been selected as a response to transforming the agriculture sector, namely agri-produce, forestry, poultry and fisheries into exportable value-added products.

This provides the opportunities for local producers to enhance their products and packaging, as well as very helpful for the exchange between Ghanaians, West Africa and International professionals to have such platform.
The Organizers were hopeful that the conference would facilitate the transfer of technology and know-how from the international companies to Ghana and West Africa producers, thus enabling high-level local food and drink production instead of importation.
