The benevolence by the Foundation has been welcomed and celebrated by the staff and pupils of the school as well as parents. They believe this would curb the rise in infections that the children suffer each time they use the old facility.

At the commissioning, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Gomoa East constituency, Desmond De-Graft Paitoo, extended his appreciation to the VFFF for the timely action.

“I would plead with the Viola Ford Fletcher Foundation to extend this to more schools in the district and the region as a whole,” he advocated.

The MP also tasked the staff and pupils of the school to keep and maintain the facility in good shape at all times so it can last its lifespan.

A representative from the District Education Directorate, Nicholas Esiamah, who also joined in the celebration of the new facility pleaded for the construction of similar facilities in other parts of the Central Region.

Mankrado of the Gomoa Dominase traditional area, Nana Opare Saah XII, was besides himself with joy. He was glad the citing of such a facility in his community. He also asked for more of such developments in the community.

‘’I would be happy if the Viola Ford Fletcher Foundation could come to our aid again in completing our on-going Police Station Post Project. We do not have a police station, a technical or secondary school, and if the foundation can help us with this it would bring the children some relief as they can attend the community secondary or technical school here in Dominase,” he stated.

Paramount King of the Igbo Community in Ghana and Vice Chairman of the Viola Ford Fletcher Foundation, Eze Dr. Amb. Chukwudi Ihenetu, remarked that the foundations objective is to provide place of convenience for people in deprived communities and public schools. He said this is in line with the Foundation’s goal to have a disease free community.

‘’We shall do our best to provide more for the community when the need arises. You must also make sure to keep this edifice in good condition at all times. From the cracks in the wall to the leakage in the roof, make sure to do regular maintenance,” he noted.

He cautioned the gathering to avoid drug abuse and drug trafficking so as to stay healthy and alive.

The foundation did not only gave Dominase Methodist Primary & JHS a good place of convenience but also provided the girls with some menstruation packs containing a pack of sanitary pad, a good number of new panties, two braziers, toothpaste and tooth brush while the boys got a toothpaste and toothbrush for themselves. There was also a educational talk on menstrual hygiene.

The girls who benefited from the donation expressed joy. One of them a JHS girl noted that, “ I am very happy to receive these items because my mother is unable to afford the sanitary pad for me regularly, and so I have to rely on my friends for pad most of the time. It has been very embarrassing for me but I don’t have any choice. Today I am happy because I would not ask anyone when I am in my next period. I am so excited’’.

“I would not also skip school when my next period comes. And I would be confident because I would not be on rags,” stated, another girl.
