CBG unveils new SME centre

INDIGENOUS Ghanaian commercial bank, Consolidated Bank Ghana Limited (CBG) has unveiled a new office block to provide special attention and bespoke services to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Accra .
The new ultra-modern SME centre at Kokomlemle near the Accra Technical Training Centre (ATTC ) is set to boost the bank’s SME offerings to both existing and prospective customers.
Managing Director of CBG, Mr Daniel Wilson Addo told the media at the unveiling of the centre that , “the idea is to create a one-stop shop for both existing and prospective customers where they will come and have a clean, safe and conducive environment to conduct their business.”
Mr Addo gave the assurance that SME owners who visit the centre will meet experts in trade finance, forex , loans for support.
“We are very much focused on the SME sector as a bank, as that is our core mandate and we are looking to continue to partner government to improve the lot of Ghanaian businesses,” he stated.
The Bank, he noted was unmistakably among the 13 leading banks which had shown commitment in supporting government’s entrepreneurship agenda – the YouStart.
These come on the back of recent recognition of the Bank’s role in promoting and up-scaling players in the SME space, which culminated in Euromoney voting CBG as the Best SME Bank in Ghana .
“Today’s official opening will ensure that CBG continues to be the bank of choice for SMEs. We assure you that we will continue to stand with this sector,” the CBG boss indicated.
Commissioning the new centre, Deputy Minister for Finance, Dr John Kumah lauded the bank for showing dynamism and drive in Ghana’s banking sector.
“We have seen a lot that you are doing and so we are surprised that your good works are gradually paying off, bring you recognition and awards. “ Dr Kumah said.
The Deputy Minister described the new SME centre as “one of the many support initiatives by government for SMEs.”
“I commend CBG for positioning yourself as an SME bank that is interested in nurturing, resourcing and financing SMEs and local corporates,” Dr Kumah said.
New trade fair office unveiled
The bank also opened a new office near the old Trade Fair site to serve its customers better.
The MD explained that “when we started the year the idea was to refresh our branch network, as we realised that some of the branches were not appropriately placed or resourced to facilitate customer interactions and customer business.”
The bank, Mr Addo noted took it upon itself to create a new branch ambience, a new branch look and feel to serve customers better.
