Change Persons in Charge of Security Force in Mankesim – GISAC Advises

Security agency – Global Intelligence and Security Analysis Centre (GISAC), has urged the Inspector General of Police (IGP), James Oppong-Boanuh, and other major stakeholders to fortify the security force in Mankesim to prevent more security breaches as witnessed recently.

They have advised that the worsening situation can be remedied if heads of security forces in the municipality are replaced with more competent personnel capable of handling the issues.

“We want to recommend to the Inspector General if Police, IGP and the Nation Security as well as the Head of BNI to reconsider proactive measures including if possible, changing the security architecture or heads of the security agencies in the municipality.”

In a press statement on Thursday, signed by its Executive Director, Samuel Nana Appiah Owusu, and sighted by ghananewsonline.com.gh, GIBAC attributed the security breaches to incompetence on the part of the existing security force in the municipality.

According to them, the incident on 7th December, 2019 during the installation of the queen mother and the shooting of a police officer yesterday is a “clear indication of intelligence failure on part of security management in the Mankesim municipality”.

In the case of the coronation of the Queen, GISAC explained that, “the Security officers who were in charge of intelligence gathering and analysis should have been able to analyze the information received prior to the coronation of the queen”

They added that, there was “failure on the part of the Chairman of Security Council who should have applied form of conflict resolution methods in handling the dispute”.

Due to this, GISAC has called on the IGP and other major stakeholders to intervene quickly. They also advised the general public “to assist the police by volunteering accurate information to the police to enable peaceful and safety environment for the citizens of Mankesim”.
