CHIEFTAINCY IN GHANA: Akufo-Addo’s Double Standards in Bawku and Accra

OSU, LA, TESHIE, NUNGUA, TEMA, PRAMPRAM and the GA MASHIE Chieftaincy issues must be insulated from governmental Interference.

BAWKU LETTER from Government signed by the Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah followed by a Court a Arrest Warrant which has since been rescinded, is challenged not only by the Bawku Chiefs and now by the GA MANTSE PRESS STATEMENT signed by the Ga Jaasetse…

Akufo-Addo must address the Nation and state the OFFICIAL GOVERNMENT POSITION ON BAWKU NAABA and GA MANTSE and ensure that his government officials cited in Chieftaincy issues are expelled and prosecuted.

OSU, LA, TESHIE, NUNGUA, TEMA, PRAMPRAM and the GA MASHIE Chieftaincy issues must be insulated from governmental Interference.

Government only interacts with Chiefs and their Stool Subjects through Registrars appointed by Local Government acting through the Traditional Councils, an advisory body created by Government.

THE INTEREST IN POLITICIANS AND BUSINESSMEN MEDDLING IN CHIEFTAINCY ISSUES IS AS FOLLOWS;

1. TO CONTROL VOTES OF STOOL SUBJECTS THROUGH THEIR SURROGATE CHIEFS.

2. TO TAKEOVER STOOL LAND AND MINERAL RESOURCES THROUGH THEIR SURROGATE CHIEFS.

3. TO ASSUME RESIDUAL POWER CLAIMED BY THEIR SURROGATE CHIEFS.

In the midst of the economic crisis there are all sorts of excavation and construction works on prime La Lands in Cantonments, Airport, Giffard and Labone mostly by corrupt politicians and Businessmen busily hiding stolen state funds, proceeds of Galamsey and Corruption or engaged in money laundering…

The Special Prosecutor must take immediate action to save Ghana from the phenomenon of money laundering allegedly with the connivance of criminally-minded officials of the Lands Commission and some Chiefs…

The Constitution of Ghana guarantees the Chieftaincy institution, however, undermined by acts of commission and omission by State Actors.

Ghanaians are resolved to be Citizens and not Spectators.

LA LANDS ARE THE MOST PRIME LANDS IN GHANA.

Government must make public the Status of all State Acquired Lands and in particular LA LANDS.

GOVERNMENT MUST IN RETURNING ANY STATE LANDS AND BY EXTENTION LA LANDS, DO SO IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE TEMPLATE USED IN RETURNING THE ASHANTI LANDS.

The Akufo-Addo government issued Executive Instrument E.I. 432 in returning 409acres of Ashanti Region Lands; including lands occupied by state institutions as well as the Military, to the Ashantihene, the occupant of the Golden Stool, in trust for the Subjects of the GOLDEN STOOL.

In like manner, La Lands including lands occupied by state institutions as well as the Military [e.g. Kpletso] must be returned to the occupant of the La Stool [La Mantse] or in his absence the La Jaase [Stool] in trust for the Subjects of the LA STOOL.

The notorious policy of SOME GHANAIANS BEING MORE GHANAIAN THAN OTHERS cannot be countenance as;

The Constitution of Ghana sees all Ghanaians as Equal, Ashanti, La, Bawku, Ga Mashie…

GHANA IS ONE NATION, ONE PEOPLE WITH A COMMON DESTINY.

Cont’d.
