Mr Oppong argued that, the President has been in opposition for eight years and someway somehow has witnessed the economic hardship of the Ghanaian people, therefore he has no choice than to make the country a better place for all. This move is crucial for economic transformation.

“The people voted for him to change and reset Ghana from the New Patriotic Party. I believe that Mahama knows the task ahead and understands the necessity of economic transformation for the nation,” he added.

Another citizen, Kwesi Osei, who is a banker also attested that, President Mahama made several socioeconomic infrastructural developments across the country during his tenure, thereby making him the best President for the country.

He believed that adequate and effective social amenities were prudent for the growth of a country. This, he explained that, when citizens can not afford basic needs such as housing, education and good healthcare, then there is no economic improvement, hence building more of these facilities will elevate the welfare of people, contributing to economic transformation.

“With Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang on his side, I believe that the country will be better served equally in all aspects of the economy,” Mr. Osei said.

Mrs. Dzifa Anong, a trader, said Mahama’s policies aligned with most of the suffering Ghanaians, especially the 24-hour economy, explaining that, there is high level of unemployment making the youth jobless and poor, hence the policy would create more jobs since there would be a shift system to allow others work to gain their daily bread.

However, Mr. Mahama has pledged to empower women through the establishment of a Women Development Bank, offering low-interest loans to support women-led businesses. This is part of his broader economic transformation vision.

Mahama promised to provide food security for all by instituting farmer service centers across the country and also providing farming subsidies and equipment on credit for farmers.

Also, he has committed to enhancing the country’s educational system and making tertiary education more affordable for vulnerable populations, further supporting economic transformation
