CLAP FOR TUC: Labour Leaders abandon fight against Galamsey

The fact that the government has not declared a State of Emergency but is fighting Galamsey in the mind of Ken Ashigbe and his colleagues seems unsatisfactory...

The Labour Unions seem no longer interested in the fight against Galamsey as the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNA) has been followed by the Trades Union Congress (TUC) in threatening to a nationwide strike…

The TUC is not interested in how Workers can be paid but insists on the bloating of the Labour force by the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia government before leaving office, in the face of the stark reality that Ghana is Broke…

In fact, Ghana has been looted, and the plundered public purse cannot support the huge wage bill.

Strangely, the Labour Unions have not commended the new government for the strides being made to fight against Galamsey and reclaim the Forest Reserves that had been taken over by Galamseyers.

Parliament is still Vetting Ministers of the new government, yet without the full complement of Ministers at the various ministries, great strides are being made by those who have assumed office.

Ken Ashigbe has been complaining about the fact that the new government is fighting Corruption and solving problems in the education, health, energy, and Economic sectors to the neglect of the fight against Galamsey.

REALLY?

The fact that the government has not declared a State of Emergency but is fighting Galamsey in the mind of Ken Ashigbe and his colleagues seems unsatisfactory…

The fact that the L.I.2462 is yet to be repealed by Parliament and the President has ordered the security forces to flush out all Galamsey on Rivers, waterways, and in the Forest Reserves is a disappointment to Ken Ashigbe and his CSO colleagues.

The mere declaration of a State of Emergency and the Repeal of L.I.2462 without any further action will not automatically result in a fight against Galamsey.

The recent arrests of Chinese and Ghanaian Galamseyers mining in Forest Reserves and Water bodies does not mean anything to Ken Ashigbe and his CSO colleagues…

The seizure of the Excavators, rather than the burning of the Excavators, which will be used as evidence at the trial of these Galamseyers, is not welcome news for Ken Ashigbe and his CSO colleagues…

The fact that the government has vowed to arrest the owners of the Excavators and financiers of the Galamsey activities and prosecute all, regardless of political affiliation, is lost on Ken Ashigbe and his CSO colleagues…

Well, the Ghanaian people are watching and listening…

The Ghanaian people are resolved to be Citizens and not Spectators…

The almost two million Ghanaians and foreigners will not hold the thirty million Ghanaians hostage, destroy the Forest Reserves, poison the Rivers and Water Bodies…

The John Dramani Mahama government will not allow the Galamsey to continue but will explore alternative livelihoods and employment for those who are willing to engage in responsible mining.

The policy of the new government to reclaim the land and restore the polluted Rivers and Forest Reserves is lost on Ken Ashigbe and his CSO colleagues.

The TRUE State of the Nation Address will paint the exact picture of Ghana, the Galamsey, the Corruption, the Debt, and how President John Dramani Mahama’s government intends to fix the problems.

President Mahama has a track record. he met Dumsor and promised to fix it;

President Mahama kept his promise; he fixed Dumsor, both the financial component by cleaning the books and the generation capacity component. There, he left a surplus when he met a deficit.

The deliberate overload of the Public service by the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia government just before office after they emptied the public purse was to spook the incoming John Dramani Mahama administration…

Recall how President John Agyekum Kufuor spooked the incoming John Evans Atta Mills administration by signing off the Single Spine Salary Scheme just before leaving office with Ghana broke and Dumsor unresolved…

President John Dramani Mahama has experience and is trustworthy;

His 120 days are not yet up, and even without the full complement of his government, he is delivering results and Resetting Ghana sector by sector…

The undue pressure by the TUC, GRNMA, and a few political obtuse persons must stop.

President John Dramani Mahama has only one term of four short years to deliver his promises within the constraint of a messed economy…

President John Dramani Mahama must, at the very least, be given his 120 days and a free hand to choose the people he wants to use to achieve his Manifesto promises, not those chosen by Akufo Addo before leaving office.

Note that the people of Ghana have given President John Dramani Mahama an unprecedented mandate in the 2024 election.

Note also that President John Dramani Mahama has earned the goodwill of Ghanaians by carrying them along through his consultative posture to governance.

President John Dramani Mahama is poised to make history and requires the support of all, not the inertia from some selfish people, especially the Micro-Mini Minority NPP who are deliberately being disruptive, distractive, and destructive.

Tomorrow, Thursday, 27th February, the State of the Nation Address will clearly paint the picture of Ghana today and the Ghana we all want ahead of the Budget reading on 11th March.

LET’S WAIT & STAY TUNED.
