Coalition of Former Appointees donates Ghc100,000 to support Mahama’s Filing Fee

The group, which started with a membership of about thirty eight (38) but has exponentially grown to eighty (80), is made up of former appointees of the previous NDC administration.

The “Get Mahama Elected Action Group”(GMEAG), a coalition of former appointees have donated an amount One Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedi (Ghc100,000) in support of the filing fee for the Former President John Dramani Mahama as he aspires to be re-elected as the flagbearer of the NDC.

According to the group, the only leader that can wrestle power from the ruling New Patriotic Party in the 2024 elections is no other person but, Former President John Mahama; therefore the need to mobilise resources to support his vision to make it a reality.

The group, which started with a membership of about thirty eight (38) but has exponentially grown to eighty (80), is made up of former appointees of the previous NDC administration.

Chairperson of the group, Dr. Sherry Ayitey together with the members earlier last month paid by a bankers draft an amount of ghc30,000 for the nomination form of Mr. Mahama in their quest to get him re-elected as the flagbearer of the party.

The NDC in February last month announced its timetable for both the presidential and parliamentary primaries and pegged the filing fee at GHC500,000 and GHC40,000 respectively where completed forms are expected to be filed between March 20 and 22.
Mr. Mahama is set to commence his Ashanti Regional tour on Saturday, 18th March, 2023 to court for the approval of delegates and in their quest to get him re-elected at all cost as the flagbearer of the NDC, the GMEAG thus presented the money to his office to support the payment of his filing fee.

Making the presentation at the office of the Former President, Convener of the group, Hon Ato Sarpong, a former deputy communications minister said, the desire of the group was to get Mr. Mahama re-elected as he is the only one who can win power for the party to salvage the country from the economic quagmire it currently finds itself.

He said GMEAG will continue to offer support in diverse ways including financial to Mr. Mahama for his 2024 campaign. Hon Ato Sarpong assured Mr Mahama of the commitment of the group to work tirelessly at their branches, constituencies and region to ensure the NDC is victorious and Mr Mahama declared a winner at the 2024 polls.

Mr. Callistus Mahama received the donation on behalf of H.E John Mahama and expressed his gratitude to the group for the kind gesture at such a crucial time, appreciated the rationale behind the formation of the group and urged them not to renenge on their efforts to get the project before them compeleted.
