Committal proceedings in Kaaka’s murder case to be conducted on Sep 23
The proceedings would pave for the accused to stand trial at the High Court, following the death of the Ejura-based social activist.
The Asokwa District Court will on Thursday, September 23, conduct committal proceedings of the three persons, who are being held for the murder of Ibrahim Mohammed aka Kaaka on June 27, 2021.

Police Prosecutor, Chief Superintendent Kofi Blagodzi told the court on Tuesday that the State was ready for the committal proceedings as he and lawyers for the accused persons confirmed to the court that the docket is at the Attorney General’s office.
The court presided over by Her Worship Akua Adu Boahene Esq., thus remanded the suspects into police custody and adjourned the case to September 23.
The three suspects: Isaka Ibrahim aka Anyas, Fuseini Alhassan and Idi Mohammed, facing the court in connection with the crime. The death of Kaaka Macho sparked widespread protest in the Municipal town of Ejura, resulting in the death of two people after a clash between security agencies and protesters.
Chief Superintendent Blagodzi, who spoke to the media after proceedings rejected claims the police are not attaching urgency to the case.
“It’s not the Police which will do the committal, it’s the AG and so they have been remanded. And the so the falsehood outside there that the police are not doing anything about the matter is wrong. And that has been established by Counsel for the accused persons”, he said.
But the family are sharply divided after the police officer’s pronouncement. Brother of Ibrahim Mohammed appears not convinced with how the case is being managed by the police.
“The system itself has been porous and polarised”, said Nafiw Mohammed, brother of the third accused person, Idi Mohammed. “But we need to go that way. Although we are not happy about happenings but we are following the system”.
“We know the truth will come out after proceedings”, Bala Isaka, a family member of the two other suspects said adding: “We remain silent and we know the law will exonerate our two sons”.
