He says the National Democratic Congress (NDC) always win the Agona West seat whenever there is a confusion within the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Solomon Nyarko, one of the three complainants who filed against Agona West Member of Parliament’s independent candidature in the 2024 polls, Cynthia Mamle Morrison, has said they took the decision for political expediency.

He says the National Democratic Congress (NDC) always win the Agona West seat whenever there is a confusion within the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Also, during the parliamentary primary of the NDC, the three persons who filed the case against Madam Morrison supported the candidature of the aspirant who lost.

The development, according to Mr. Nyarko, has created the impression that they (complainants) are not in support of the NDC parliamentary candidate in the constituency since they were not in his camp during the primary.

To prove to the woman that they are on her side, Nyarko said the three of them decided to injunct Madam Morrison, the current MP who lost the NPP primary and has decided to contest as independent, so that she would be taken off the race for her (Cynthia Morrison) supporters to rally behind the NDC candidate to win.

But after receiving several calls and thinking through their actions, Solomon Nyarko says they realised their case has no merit and decided to exclude themselves.

He spoke with Onua News’ Central regional correspondence, Joseph Cobbinah, when two of the three complainants went to the Agona Swedru Magistrate Court to get their names expunged from the writ.

He clarified that the NDC as a party has nothing to do with the injunction, but rather a decision taken by the three persons for their candidate to know they support her, despite not being on her side during the primary.

“We are three brothers from the NDC and decided that when the woman (NDC PC) won, she thinks we don’t like her so we decided to create a confusion between Chris and her (Cynthia Morrison) so that her people would come and support her (NDC PC). So later we were told it wouldn’t yield any results so we decided to withdraw the case. The NDC has no hand in it. It was between the three of us,” he explained.

On his part, the other complainant who opted out of the case with Nyarko, Harrison Kwame Agaglo, indicated that they took the decision to stay out of the case about two weeks ago and could not fathom how their names still appeared in the case.

He said they went to the court to ask the officials to take out their names since they were no more interested.

“Initially I was part of the whole thing but later I withdrew so I was surprised that injunction was given and my name was part of the list. That’s where I have a problem because I withdrew from the case two weeks ago so I didn’t expect that my name should be in so I came to the court to find out and I was told that it was a mistake so my name will definitely be removed. Myself and Solo,” he explained.

“We told them we brought the case but we are no more pursuing it. So on  Monday we heard that our names have been mentioned so we came for them to take our names out,” he added.

Meanwhile, the remaining person amongst the three complainants refused to comment when Joseph Cobbinah reached out to him. He is currently sick and receiving treatment at the hospital and says he will only comment after regaining his health.
