Construction works to expand ISSER conference facility at University of Ghana set to commence

Barring any unforeseen circumstances, the expansion work on the Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER) conference facility at the University of Ghana is expected to commence, ABC News can report.

The expansion project, which is expected to take 18 months, when completed will see the construction of an ultra-modern library and more rooms to decongest the Institute and position it as one of the best research centers on the continent and globally.

At the sod-cutting event held to mark the readiness to commence the project, Former ISSER Director, Prof. Felix A. Asante, was optimistic that the completion of the project will allow ISSER to increase its staff strength to match the growing needs of the institute.

“ISSER is still growing and as such the growing number of staff, galloping number of graduate students calls for an expansion of the conference facility. Currently, we share a library with RIPS so we need a library of our own as well” Professor Asante stated, ABC News can report.

The Pro-Vice-Chancellor in-charge of Academic and Students Affairs, Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, expressed excitement about the project and lauded the Institute for the bold initiative that will make it stand out as one of the best in the field of research.

“I congratulate ISSER, its Director, former Directors, researchers, and staff, on their continued efforts to lead the pursuit of the University’s strategic objective of becoming a research-intensive University and for promoting the interface between the university and its stakeholders through the dissemination of its research outputs” the Pro-Vice-Chancellor told the gathering.

Present are the ceremony were other top officials, faculty, members of staff and students of the University of Ghana.

Antartic Contract Work, the executors of the project, are upbeat on completing the work as scheduled and charged ISSER to be cooperative during the period.
