Cook-A-Thon: I think Chef Smith will be disqualified – Bridget Otoo
“Dear Ghanaian “THON-A-BRITIES”, “Thon” doesn’t include going home to sleep and returning It also doesn’t include inviting celebrities to hype you inside the kitchen, or singing area and it also doesn’t include cheating by editing some parts of your video, you will be caught.”
Media Personality, Bridget Otoo believes the ambition of Chef Ebenezer Smith to break Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual attempt will fall short.
She said there is no way he has not taken a 30seconds break to violate the rest break rules.
Chef Smith has completed an impressive 700 hours of continuous cooking to break the current record holder, Irish chef Alan Fisher who broke the cook-a-thon attempt with 119 hours and 57 minutes.
The Journalist comment comes after the Guinness World Records disqualified Ghanaian Chef Failatu Abdul-Razak’s Cook-A-Thon attempt.
Chef Faila’s culinary journey ended with 227 hours.
According to GWR, Chef Faila violated the rest break rules, resulting in an unsuccessful attempt.
The team at Guinness World Records acknowledged Chef Faila’s efforts and encouraged future record proposals. “We commend you for your tremendous efforts with this record attempt. We hope you can still be very proud of what you have achieved.” stated the Records Management Team.
Bridget Otoo on her X (formerly Twitter) stated that she thinks Chef Smith is trying to seek attention to promote his business but not intended to break records.
“I also think Chef Smith will be disqualified. Because ain’t no way he has not taken a 30seconds break. What I think he’s doing is to bring attention to his business and that’s fine. He’s not trying to break any record.” She wrote.
She explained that situations such as going home to sleep and returning, inviting celebrities to hype you inside the kitchen, cheating by editing some parts of your video are violations of the rules.
“Dear Ghanaian “THON-A-BRITIES”, “Thon” doesn’t include going home to sleep and returning It also doesn’t include inviting celebrities to hype you inside the kitchen, or singing area and it also doesn’t include cheating by editing some parts of your video, you will be caught.” The GhOne presenter added.
Bridget added that the results of Chef Faila should make Ghanaians appreciate what Nigerian Chef, Hilda Baci did.
According to her, people thought breaking the record was easy.
She also advised potential record attempt breakers to read the rules and guidelines well to achieve their aims.
“I hope Ghanaians appreciate what Hilda Baci did and learn from her . The way some on this platform abused her for breaking that record thinking it’s easy. Also when signing up for any “Thon” read the “rules and Guidelines” well, respect it cos there’s no shortcut.” She added.
Chef Faila’s disqualification came a few days after the Guinness World Records proved that Afua Asantewaa Aduonum’s longest singing marathon by an individual was unsuccessful.
