The Methodist Church Ghana has suspended church services for the next four weeks over coronavirus outbreak in Ghana following the directives from the president of the republic Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo.
This was after the president announced the suspension of all public gathering including conferences, workshops, funerals, festivals, political rallies, sporting events and religious activities such as services in Churches and mosques for the next 28 days.
The directives of the President came after authorities of the Ghana Health Services (GHS) announced that the total coronavirus case recorded in the country has reached 16.
In a statement signed by the presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana, Most Rev. Dr. Paul K. Boafo and copied to Ghananewsonline.com.gh, the suggest the suspension of all church services of the Methodist Church for four weeks and also the closure of its educational institutions until further notice.
“The issue of the novel coronavirus which has become a global plague is most worrying, we believes in the power of God to end this epidemic. We nevertheless encourage all our health institutions to improve their service to Ghanaians in this trouble time whilst they safeguard their own safety” a portion of the statement read.
