The National executive committee of NUGS-China wants the Foreign Affairs Ministry to come clean on arrangements towards the evacuation of Ghanaian students in Wuhan.

This comes on the back of what the Executives say is the obvious inconsistency between the statements of the Minister and the agreements in their meetings held.

“We have also made it clear, through the Hubei leadership, that recent statistics and situations in the epicenter do not favor any further delay of the evacuation process. For the safety of all Ghanaians there, action must be taken now.

“With our credibility in question, we are left with no option than to express our frustration to the Ghana Mission-Beijing concerning how things are turning up. We firmly believe that our transparency and trust should be repaid with the safety of our members,” a letter by the leadership addressed to the Embassy in China read in part.

The distraught National Executive Committee of NUGS-China is therefore demanding specific dates to communicate to their members in distress, considering the worrying dangers they face with the passage of time.

The Minority has called on the government to immediately evacuate Ghanaian students currently locked up in China back home.

According to the Minority, they will embark on their next line of action if government fails to listen to them.

According to them, France, Switzerland, Philippines, Russia, and other African countries including war ravaged Libya have all evacuated their nationals from China as a result of the CoronaVirus.

The United States of America, they noted, is doing a second round evacuation of their nationals, urging the Government to swiftly move in to save the Ghanaian students before anything bad befalls on them.

Addressing journalists on the sidelines of Parliamentary sitting, Tuesday, the Ranking Member of the Foreign Affairs Committee and NDC MP for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa said Ghana has the capacity to evacuate the Ghanaian students from China, especially, those trapped in Wuhan where the CoronaVirus originated from.
