The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for the New Edubiase Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Adams Abdul Salam, has distributed over 4,500 pieces of hand sanitizers to his constituents to help fight the coronavirus pandemic in Ghana. The country currently has 132 recorded cases.
The distribution according to him is part of his contribution towards the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, his campaign team donated hand sanitisers, assorted personal hygiene and Protective equipment to help protect the frontline of the spread of the coronavirus in the constituency.
The beneficiaries which include the market women, shop owners, the GPRTU branch Police stations, patients and staff of the New Edubiase Government Hospital and the other individuals took home hand Sanitisers, packs of hand gloves, protective safety masks, liquid soaps for hand wash, and many other safety gears as well as mounting buckets with fitted tap valves (Veronica Buckets) at vantage points in the Constituency enhance frequency in hand washing.
The beneficiaries were also admonished to strictly observe the basic precautionary measures including; handwashing under running water and soap, using alcohol based sanitizers to clean hands, covering of mouth when coughing or sneezing, and the avoidance of coming into contact with persons showing symptoms of fever or flu.
The Parliamentary candidates who is optimistic of winning the 2020 Parliamentary elections told Ghananewsonline.com.gh in an interview that after the distribution in the Edubiase township called on well meaning Ghanaians to join hands in combating the deadly epidemic stating that his move is not for vote buying but to contribute towards the development of the country as a citizen.
Adams Abdul Salam reacting to news of a possible lockdown of the country explained that “it will be impropable to lock the state down, questioning how many Ghanaians can feed themselves for just three days if the state is locked down, how many people have house hold toilets in their homes, we need to put all this into consideration before arriving at a decision”.
“Even though we are at the edge of a possible lockdown as a country, I wish to advise that government consider the ordinary Ghanaian people on the street before, let them go and buy their daily activities”.
He again called on the Ministry of Aviation to strengthen its security measures to check people traveling into the country.
“The fight against coronavirus is not an individual fight, it is a fight that we all as Ghanaians should join hands and help our leaders to send this unknown disease away, I call on all persons especially the well to do in our community to at least buy one sanitizer for the poor and the destitute,” Adams Abdul Salam stated.
