The President’s advisor on health-related issues, Dr Anthony Nsiah Asare, has said no Ghanaian will be made to pay for the cost of a Covid-19 vaccine shot.
Dr Nsiah Asare, speaking in an interview noted that the Covid-19 vaccines when finally in the country will be made free for all citizens.
What I will say first is that it’s free to the ordinary citizen. Any Ghanaian who is going for the vaccine will not pay anything for it,” he stated.
He however, called on the private sector to support government in the financing of the purchases of the Covid-19 vaccines.
“Well, all what we are saying is that if the private sector wants to be part of this, there should be private sector financing. The private sector should try and give the money and the government will bring the vaccines in,” he added.
Speaking further, Dr Nsiah Asare noted government is expecting a batch of the COVAX vaccines in the country soon.
“Our fist batch of Covid vaccines will be that of the COVAX and we are supposed to get about 20% of those vaccines which are about six million in total,” he said.
