COVID 19: Zoomlion disinfects Police Facilities in Accra

As part of moves to curb the spread of Covid-19 in Ghana, Zoomlion Ghana Limited has commenced disinfecting of some Police facilities in Accra. The exercise dubbed “Police –Zoomlion National Disinfection and Fumigation Exercise” includes the cleaning of police cells, offices, barracks among other facilities.

Zoomlion Ghana Limited, a waste management and environmental sanitation giant in collaboration with the Ghana Police Service is embarking on a disinfestation exercise in all police facilities across the country to help reduce the spread and infection of Covid-19 among inmates and officers in the country.

Speaking to the media at the Dansoman Divisional Headquarters, the District Commander, Chief Superintendent Jeffrey Darko, commended the Police leadership and Zoomlion Ghana Limited for the exercise as it gives the officers the courage to move about their duties without fear of contracting the virus. He also debunked claims that his outfit has recorded some cases of Covid-19 but confirmed that blood samples of both inmates and officers have been taken and they are awaiting the results.

“It is not true that there are positive cases here, let us not work with “hearsay”. Samples were taken but results are not yet in. What is important is for all of us to adhere to the various health protocols that are of much importance now” he said.

Chief Superintendent Cephas Authur, the commander of the Mamprobi Police station was also grateful to Zoomlion for the marvellous disinfection work done at his stations.  He also confirmed that samples of officers and inmates have been collected and they are awaiting the results. He explains that all the necessary health protocols are keenly followed to avert the spread of Covid-19 at his Police station.
“We have people coming into the charge office, though we are keeping to all the protocols it is was very important for Zoomlion to come to our aid with this disinfection exercise” he added.

At the Korle Bu Police Station, the Commander was very impressed about the disinfection exercise conducted by Zoomlion and the Police leadership and was of the firm believe that such exercises are important to prevent the spread of the novel Covid-19 and other infections among officers and inmates.
