Crusaders petition OSP to probe Ken Agyapong’s allegations of gov’t hiring a private jet, doling out money to Adwoa Safo

A pressure group, Crusaders Against Corruption (CACG), has petitioned the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) to investigate allegations by Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong.

Mr Agyapong in an interview on Accra-based Asaase radio, made startling revelations that the Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei-Opare gave him GHC120,000 to deposit into the account of Dome-Kwabenya MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo.

Mr Agyapong who has two kids with the embattled MP also alleged that a private jet was put at the disposal of Adwoa Safo and some Majority MPs for them to be ferried into the country to vote and approve the controversial Electronic Transfer Levy (E-Levy) bill.Electronic Transfer Levy (E-Levy) bill.

Adwoa Safo has courted the displeasure of government officials, the NPP and the Majority leadership over her demands to be made a Deputy Majority Leader before she returns to the Chamber.

According to the maverick politician, his colleague, Adwoa Safo has been over-pampered for long thereby her latest attempt to hold the party to ransom by demanding that the Deputy Majority Leadership occupied by Alexander Afenyo-Markin who represents the Effutu constituency be given to her.

But a press release dated February 23, 2022, wants those allegations not to be swept under the carpet.

The CACG has specifically called on the OSP to probe into the source funding and the exactness of Ken Agyapong’s allegations.

“Crusaders Against Corruption (CACG) is officially petitioning your office as a matter of urgency, public interest and for protecting the public purse;

I. Investigate the source of funding.
II. Determine whether or not there is misappropriation of public funds from the office of the Chief of Staff or any other public office.
III. Determine whether or not the publication made by Hon Ken Agyapong is false.”
