CSIR appoints Genevieve Nyameke-Manu Yankey as Director of Admin

The Center for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) has appointed Madam Genevieve Nyameke-Manu Yankey as the new Director of Administration and Secretary to the Governing Council of the institution based on her outstanding performance and hardworking.

She holds a BA (Hons) in History and Classics from the University of Ghana where she graduated in 1987. She acquired a second degree from same University at the Business School and graduated with a Masters’ in Public Administration.

Genevieve Nyameke-Manu Yankey is a product of Holy Child Secondary School  and St. Mary’s Secondary School where she obtained her O’ and  A’ levels certificate respectively.

Her desire to follow through her ambition of becoming an accomplished Administrator made her enrolled as a professional at the Chartered Institute of Administrators and Management Consultancy (CIAMC), where she is now a Licentiate Member.

She is also a Member of the Institute of Human Resources Management Practitioners (IHRMP) in Ghana.

Genevieve started her career in the early 90s as a Sales supervisor at ASDA Stores Limited (UK) and later as Administrative Manager at Afro Orient Company limited in Ghana from 1995 to 1997. In 2000, she joined the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR-Ghana) and was assigned to the Human Resources Development (HRD) Division as Administrative Officer.

She played a key role in the management of the division as well as building capacities of staff members in CSIR.

In 2008, she was promoted to Senior Administrative Officer with additional responsibilities and in 2010 she was made the Head of Human Resources Development Division.

Later, in 2011 she was made the Substantive Head of Human Resources Management (HRM) Division in Charge of CSIR Governing Council Matters and assisted the then Secretary  the Council. By dint of hard work and commitment to her job, in 2014, she was promoted to Principal Administrative Officer.

Again, in October 2018, after the compulsory retirement of the then Director of Administration, she was made the Acting Director of Administration of the CSIR Head Office, a position she also held till her new appointment.

Genevieve Yankey, has attended several short courses, conferences and workshops both locally and internationally. She is a member of some professional bodies and committees such as Chair, CSIR-Head Office Internal Management Committee (IMC), Chair, Member of Nomination Management Committee, Member of Superannuation Management Committee, Member of Director’s Management Committee (DMC), Management Boards of CSIR-STEPRI, INSTI, SRI and SARI

Beyond the boundaries of CSIR, she is the  Council Secretary of St. Alban Anglican Church in Tema, from 2010 till date. She likes travelling, dancing and watching investigative Films.

Genevieve Yankey is happily married to Mr. Frederick Yankey, a Senior Financial Analyst at the World Bank office based in Nairobi, Kenya and she has 3  daughters, name!y, Tracey, Yvonne and Bernardine.

She outlined some key projects that she intends to undertake as Director which include Access to Information, Environmental – Waste Management Initiatives and Go Green project, Health, Wellness and Security Programs and Cleanliness
