C’ttee hearing: Gabby’s arrogant posture appalling – Murtala

Counsel for the Finance Minister Gabby Otchere-Darko was arrogant in some of his comments during Day One of the investigations into the conduct of the Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta by the 8-member ad hoc committee, Member of Parliament for Tamale Central, Murtala Mohammed has said.

This comes after Mr Otchere-Darko, in one of his comments during the hearing on Tuesday November 15, said the Finance Minister was leading the negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and sort to ask the committee to expedite action, a comment  he later apologized for after an objection was raised by North Tongu Member of Parliament Samuel Okudzeto Abalkwa who is also a member of the committee.

Murtala described this as bizarre.

Speaking the the Big Issue with Roland Walker on TV3 Wednesday November 16, he said “The conduct of the [Gabby Othere-Darko] was very appalling and bizarre, he came across as a very arrogant person who disrespected Parliament.

“That statement that the minister is leading IMF negotiations and therefore, if we were to sit here, he could have put it in a better way and that was why KT Hammond, co-chair of the committee had issues with it.

“What we are doing in Parliament is as important as the IMF negotiations.”
