“As I have stated time and again, I do not have any interest in the Damongo chieftaincy affairs whatsoever. As a bona fide Gonja Prince, I continue to have high regard for the revered chieftaincy institution, the Overlord of Gonjaland, Yagbonwura Bi-kunuto Jewu Soale, and all other chiefs for that matter,” he said.

He added that his role and overarching interest, both as Member of Parliament and Minister of the Republic, is to contribute his modest quota to the development of Ghana, and the Damongo Constituency.

“I entreat all and sundry to disregard these allegations as same are untrue. I am and will forever remain a humble servant of the Damongo people and Ghanaians as a whole,”  he assured.

Supporters of Damongowura Kelly Braimah Boresa Seidu at a press conference called out the MP for interfering in traditional matters in Damongo.

According to them, the continuous interference of politicians in matters that should be handled within traditional frameworks has the tendencies of causing widespread discontent and disaffection among the people.

Since 2016, the Damongo community has been battling with some chieftaincy succession dispute.

Two feuding factions from the same gate one Abuasewura and the Budonwura have been fighting over who should be the rightful occupant of the Damongo skin.

The matter was referred to the Judicial committee of the then Northern Regional House of chiefs for a resolution.
