Dansoman Community to benefit from Multipurpose ICT Library and Robotics Center Courtesy MTN Ghana Foundation 

MTN Ghana Foundation together with the Minister of Communication, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful have inspected progress of work of a multipurpose community library and robotics centre at the Ebenezer Senior High School at Dansoman in the Ablekuma West Constituency. It will serve students of the school and the entire community.

Corporate Services Executive of MTN Ghana, Mr. Samuel Koranteng, reiterated that, as an organization with the vision ‘to lead the delivery of a bold new digital world to customers’, MTN understands that Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is very critical in the digital world and that is why the foundation decided to  to support the Dansoman community with this facility just as it has done in other parts of the country.

He said, “This is not the first library we are putting up, this one is particularly unique in that , we have gone one step ahead to add robotics which we are confident will support the digital transformation agenda of the country whilst helping the youth to develop their digital skills .I believe this would give students, teachers and the community as a whole the opportunity to learn in different ways to expand their digital knowledge.”

He added that after the completion of the project, there will be a 100 and 20 seating capacity e-library and ICT laboratory respectively as well as a robotic center. The project is expected to be completed by the end of June 2020. 

In her remarks, the Communications Minister and Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West, Honorable Ursula Owusu-Ekuful expressed her appreciation to the MTN Ghana Foundation and the business as a whole. She said, “This is a very good initiative, considering the fact that this will be the first library and ICT center in this constituency and it will go further to motivate the students and entire community to learn and upgrade themselves”. 

The Board Chairman of Ebenezer Senior High School, Mr. Vincent Birch Freeman expressed his outmost gratitude to the MTN Ghana Foundation and urged other private companies to emulate the good gesture. 

“I feel elated and very grateful to MTN for this facility. Since we live in a technological world, the youth need to be better equipped with all the necessary tools to help them stay abreast with the changing trends required for work, business and other forms of social development.  I am making a personal appeal to other companies to emulate the example of MTN and help with similar projects at different schools”, he said.
