Dead body found in Susan River at Asokwa
Residents made the shocking discovery on Tuesday (September 27), close to the Susan River which had burst its banks following torrential rains that battered parts of the Ashanti Region the previous days.
A young man was found dead in a river on the Ahinsan and Atonsu link road in the Asokwa Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
Residents made the shocking discovery on Tuesday (September 27), close to the Susan River which had burst its banks following torrential rains that battered parts of the Ashanti Region the previous days.
Scrap dealers who were searching for metal parts and other objects in the stream spotted his fingers with other body parts buried in the debris.
They quickly raised an alarm that caught the attention of bystanders and opinion leaders in the vicinity.
Police and other emergency services were called to convey the body to the morgue.
Residents say it wasn’t the first time such an incident had been recorded around the area. It is believed that the deceased may have been carried by floodwater although the police say they are working to identify him.
There have been calls on authorities to desilt the stream to avert such incidents.
