Decision by President and Kyebihene to Distance themselves from ’Agyapadie’ Document Unacceptable
Today with a few months to the 2024 elections, they are at it again. ‘’The fabricated document entitled, ‘Agyapadie’ is being spread around by operatives of the opposition as evidence of a grand scheme by my party to annex the assets of the state,’’
The Center for Ethical Governance and Administration (CEGA) has observed with amazement the decision by the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo, and the Paramount Chief of Akyem Abuakwa, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori-Panin to come out and deny responsibility for the Agyapadie document, and rather accuse the opposition of complicity.
These consequential documents, original and reviewed, have been in circulation for some years now without any of the personalities whose pictures and names prominently featured in it coming out openly to either comment on it; claim ownership, or deny responsibility.
Suddenly, and strangely, within a short time interval, the President of the Republic and the Omanhene of Akyem Abuakwa have come out strongly to distance themselves from this document. Literally, among the Akans, Agyapadie refers to the property of a good father.
Primarily, the document covers the essential features of the country including the economy, finance, politics, religion, chieftaincy, media, judiciary, and security agencies, and outlines the ways and means to manipulate these essential features and Will them for the private use of descendants of Nana Apeanim Kwaframa, Nana Kuntunkununku, and Ofori-Panin.
And the reasons for this diabolic move, according to the foreword, were as follows;
- ‘’As the heirs of Nana Apeanim Kwaframa, Nana Kuntunkunuku, and Ofori-Panin, our people were never defeated in the wars of old.’’
- ‘’ We were nobody’s subjects, and yet, after 1957, we were made to live in the shadows of descendants of people, who never defeated us in war while the Asante kingdom was uplifted to put us in the shade.’’
- ‘’In relatively recent times, the struggles and works of B. Danquah to restore Okyeman to its original glory were thwarted.’’
- ‘’Fully cognizant that we are currently, part of the modern nation of Ghana, (the name of which was originally proposed by the illustrious son of Ofori Paninfie of Okyeman, J.B Danquah), and aware that it is currently made up of other diverse peoples, we have to assert our old selves and ensure that we no longer continue to live in the shadows of other kings and people, whose forbears were defeated in ’’
- According to the foreword, ‘’despite our tremendous contribution to this Ghana entity, Okyeman has not been credited with the appropriate awe and grandeur that we rightly deserve in recent ’’
After the objectives were stated, the implementation followed without hesitation. In paragraph four(4) of page nine (9), it has been stated, ‘’When we have finally captured the command and control sectors of the economy, for our private use, we would then be in a better position to wield the necessary political and economic muscle to manage the destiny of this country under the reign of Ofori Panin.’’
Since then, the CEGA has observed a lot of strange occurrences in all the targeted sectors of the nation. Within three years, eleven banks (11) banks, three-hundred and forty-seven (347) micro-financial institutions, fifteen (15) savings and loans companies, eight (8) finance houses, and fifty- three (53) Fund managing Companies said to be in distress to the tune of Ghc9 billion were shutdown, using a staggering amount of over Ghc30 billion.
As stated under, Economic and Financial Sector Control, Phase One Overview, For example, ‘’the financial sector cleanup successfully eliminated the most banks with hostile ownerships.’’ Dr Papa Kwesi, Kwabena Dufuor, Capt. Amoabeng and others considered hostile lost their banks.
It is interesting to note that, Kofi Bosompem Osafo Maaafo is now the Director General of SSNIT because at page six (6) paragraph three (3), it is stated among others, ‘’ in phase two of our agenda, Kofi Bosompem Osafo Maafo, who is the Deputy Director-General of SSNIT should be made the DG to give him the seat on the ECOBANK (Ghana) Board, and it has happened.
Similar moves have been made in other financial institutions to consolidate their control of the banking sector. Take note of this, ‘’ the collapse of local banks with ties to the opposition NDC and other rival political factions, during the cleanup operations undertaken by the Mother was a resounding success. It facilitated the flow of substantial financial resources into our war fund through the backflow of some of the advertised clean-up costs. The NDC has been poor in coherently and consistently demanding detailed accountability and audit of the funds spent.’’
On page seven (7) of the document, according to them were notable setbacks. Notable setbacks especially in the power sector as civil society and the opposition NDC were able to galvanize enough public opinion against the renegotiated Ameri deal and the Power Distribution Service (PDS) takeover of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
On the media landscape, ‘’The roles of Kwaku Baako, Paul Adom Otchere, Kwame Sefa Kai and OB Amoah of Multimedia cannot be underestimated.’’
The above is a few of the numerous broad strategies that have been implemented with a few aborted, with more waiting for implementation. So, it is very strange for the President of the Republic and the Paramount Chief of Akyem Abuakwa to come out at this late hour to wash their hands off the document.
It is important to know that there are three paramountcy within Okyeman. These are Akyem Kotoku, Akyem Bosome, and Akyem Abuakwa. At an Akyem Abuakwa State Council meeting at Kyebi quite recently, the Omanhene of Akyem Abuakwa Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori-Panin, speaking in his native language, was reported to have described the ‘Agyapadie’ document as a total fiction, fabricated by those determined for years to create and fan hate campaign against the Ofori Panin household and Okyeman’’
According to the same Omanhene, ‘’around October 2016, about a few months before the election, the same document known as the ‘Akyem Project’ was in circulation. The focus of that was to fan hatred between Okyeman and Asanteman to undermine the electoral fortunes of Nana Akufo-Addo.’’
Speaking at the Ghana Report Summit, with the theme, ‘’Dealing with Misinformation and Disinformation in the Upcoming Elections,’’ the President referenced the ‘Agyapadie’ document, as a plot orchestrated to tarnish his reputation ahead of the upcoming elections. He noted that he had been a target of fake news masterminded by his political opponents.
Today with a few months to the 2024 elections, they are at it again. ‘’The fabricated document entitled, ‘Agyapadie’ is being spread around by operatives of the opposition as evidence of a grand scheme by my party to annex the assets of the state,’’ he said.
But were these simultaneous reactions planned or merely coincidental?
The ‘Agyapadie’ document looks like a book of prophecies highlighting activities likely to take place in Ghana from 2017 when Nana Akufo-Addo became the President of the Republic. And they are taking place, one after the other. The capture of state assets is taking place almost everywhere, leading to public outcry.
The governance and leadership style of President Akufo-Addo since 2017, follows exactly the provisions and implementation strategies in the ‘Agyapadie’ documents; the original and the reviewed version.
The unfortunate denials could be listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the greatest deception of the century; perhaps after the Middle Eastern fictional tale of Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves.
The CEGA believes that, if the President and the Omanhene of Kyem Abuakwa should decide to make any comments, they should not distance themselves. Their modus operandi, hallmarks, footprints, and fingerprints are visible throughout the documents. Rather, since it is very clear that most of the strategies in the documents have been accomplished, and are waiting for opportunities to complete the implementation process before 7th December 2024, the two personalities should admit their complicity, apologize to Ghanaians for the pains they have caused the nation, and promise to restore the dignities and the properties of the affected people.
