‘Deliberate mass failures at Law School would be tackled’-Mahama
Former President has said there should be no artificial barriers for persons who want to go to law school because ”we want to restrict the number of people in a particular career”.
He believes what is being done is to reduce the number of people who qualified as law students.
He said there are people with the view that too many lawyers were being produced hence the move to reduce the intake.
The mass failure at the law school he suggested was deliberate to cut down the number.
The reforms required he said is in the bosom of the General Legal Council and as president, he would take that matter up and see how to streamline it and expand the space for more students to be employed.
”You can’t stop people from reaching their career goals…if they want to be lawyers, let them be lawyers. The public will select the best ones amongst them to represent them,” in court.
”So it is not for you to deliberately try to curtail by failing them to ensure that not many are called to the bar,” he added.
