Deloitte audit paves way for Akufo-Addo Cathedral construction to continue
“We appreciate your support so far and trust that the completion of the ongoing audit will renew your prayer and financial support for the NCG project," it added.
The completion of an audit on the national cathedral has paved the way for its construction to continue.
Cathedral board chairman Apostle Professor Opoku Onyinah announced the development in a statement following a September 20 meeting between the Board of Directors and Deloitte auditors.
“The need for an audit was a key demand by the church leadership and Ghanaians in general to establish the credibility of the implementation of the project. With the completion of this first report, preparations are underway for construction to resume,” the statement said.
“We appreciate your support so far and trust that the completion of the ongoing audit will renew your prayer and financial support for the NCG project,” it added.
So far, the government has sunk $58 million of public funds into the project, which is a personal promise made by Mr Akufo-Addo to God for his electoral victory.
Several prime state buildings were bulldozed to pave the way for the project.
Currently, it is nothing more than a huge pit in one of the prime areas of the capital city.
Some $450 million is needed to complete the project.
