Zumzum: Desperation has set in as Akufo-Addo recruits Catholic Bishops to attack his Opponents

Akufo-Addo// I saw a video in circulation where the president was angrily venting his anger on why he and his Akyem cabals were referred to as “Akyem Sakawa Boys!”

It is appropriate to have a say in the above development since Akufo-Addo went recruiting Catholic Bishops to do his dirty bidding.

Governance of a democratic country as enshrined in the 1992 constitution has certain underlying principles – probity, transparency and accountability. Any political party in power that lacks the above must be writing her handing over notes in preparation for exit. Non-negotiable!

Indeed, governments are overthrown based on lack of transparency – CORRUPTION.

So, today, when Akufo-Addo’s government is entering into a deal in the interest and on behalf of the citizenry it is only appropriate and proper to allow sunshine have its way.

From the sea of scandals which we have lost count of, it is in reference to Agyapa deal, that Hon. Isaac Adongo coined the perfect name “Akyem Sakawa Boys”,…

It is strange and it beats my imagination for Nana Addo to be urging the Catholic Bishops when he had meeting with them to go after his opponents.

Forgetting, we are in a democratic country where free speech, probity, transparency and accountability are the ingredients it revolves around.

Is transparency too much a thing to ask for?

To me, If the president meant well for Ghanaians – clear conscience, pure heart, he would have seized the opportunity to explain what the Agyapa deal is really about.

Already, as a country we have lost control of the mineral resources as they are in the hands of the multinationals. What we are discussing about has to do with the mineral royalties.

Which judicious usage of this royalties cannot be underestimated. Do not forget some people are of the school of thought that our natural resources should remain under the earth until we, referring to the nation have the wherewithal, the capacity to exploit it for maximum benefit.

Contrarily, others are also of the view that we can not wait for that future, let us exploit it now, either we have the capacity or not for the benefit of the current generation, and the medium to long term generations.

It is important government allay fears of the two schools of thought per its dealings.

Hence, I ask, why a private company, Agyapa as Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for this deal and not the Ghana Investment Infrastructure Funds (GIIF). GIIF is government owned, Agyapa is not. Why should Agyapa be registered in Jersey – a tax haven? We do know, Tax haven exist for two reasons, either one is engaging in financial secrecy deals or want to dodge payment of tax.

Why till date prospectus of Agyapa which gives details about the company of the owners, their qualifications are not yet made public?

Is this how we run a country?

In the abence of cogent answers to the above salient questions and many more – If “Akyem Sakawa Boys” does not befits Agyapa scheme to rob this nation what else?

Do not forget your own blood, former Attorney General, Gloria Akuffo referred to the Agyapa Royalties deal as unconscionable – meaning morally unacceptable.
