The church joins the Akufo-Addo-led government in blaming the country’s economic woes on the war taking place in faraway Eastern Europe.
A letter signed by the Chairman of the Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, scolded one of its branches at Dowtown Ofaakor in Accra for raising only GH¢2,780,537 out of its earmarked GH¢3,188,529 as its target for the first half of the year.
The letter subsequently admonished the Ofaakor branch to do well to meet its annual targets despite the worsening global economic situation.
“We are aware of the global effect of the war in Ukraine and the hardship that the Covid-19 still imposes on our members. But the above notwithstanding, let us continue to work hard at achieving our annual budget as we also pray with you,” portions of the letter read.
