Distribute “Parked Ambulances” to the Northern Sector – Dumelo pleads with Akufo-Addo
Popular Ghanaian actor and politician, John Dumelo, has advised the Akufo-Addo led government to immediately begin distribution of the “parked ambulances” to the Northern Sector of the country, then gradually move down to the southern belt.
This comes in response to the president’s reason for delaying the distribution of the ambulances as revealed during his encounter with the press last week Friday.
The president’s decision to delay distribution of the ambulances in order to avoid “favoritism and criticism” did not auger well for many Ghanaians.
Expressing his views via social media yesterday, Dumelo, who is contesting the Ayawaso Central parliamentary seat on the ticket of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) urged the President not to wait for the arrival of all procured ambulances before distribution.
According to him, the delay is continually aggravating the poor state of the health sector in the country as immediate action is required.
“Please don’t wait for all of them to arrive before distributing them. The people are dying,” he stated.
John Dumelo therefore added his voice to the Association for Transparent and Accountable Governance (ATAG) to demand for the immediate release of the ambulances, with the Northern sector being the primary area of concern.
As explained by ATAG in a recently released press statement, “most of the constituencies in the five northern regions and possibly other equally deprived constituencies across the country are without ambulances; especially the Sissala West constituency in the Upper West Region [which] has not a single ambulance to take care of its emergencies.”
According to Dumelo and ATAG, the poor state of health system in the Northern parts of Ghana necessitates the immediate distribution of these ambulances.
