The Member of Parliament for Dome/Kwabenya, Faustina Elikplim Akurugu, has renewed calls for the division of her constituency, citing its vast size and growing population.
According to the MP, Dome Kwabenya is comparable in size to five or six other constituencies combined, making it one of the largest in the country. With a population of approximately 285,000, she noted that campaigning in the area was particularly challenging. Additionally, she highlighted that the large constituency size affects the timely distribution of resources and services, as allocations are often made without considering its unique demands.

Speaking in an interview with Ghanamps.com, Hon. Akurugu acknowledged that the decision to create a new constituency lies with the Ministry of Local Government and the Electoral Commission. However, she emphasized her commitment to advocating for the division, stating, “I prefer it to be split for the benefit of the constituents so they can receive their fair share of resources and opportunities.”
