The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has cautioned the party apparatchiks to eschew the tendency of using party structure to support a candidate.
At a media briefing in Accra on Thursday, Nketia popularly called General Mosquito, warned that the party will not tolerate the habit of members using the party structure for parochial interest.
On the party’s Regional and National Delegates Conferences, he said the regional party conference that was scheduled for August 21 has been postponed to September 1, while the National Conference comes off on September 21.
General Mosquito described the act of using the party structure to support one candidate against the other as a disincentive for party cohesiveness
Meanwhile, the General Secretary has said the purported 94 MPs who were alleged to have declared support for Ex President John Dramani Mahama were doing so as individuals and not as NDC Parliamentary Caucus.
“Those who want to contest for various positions can now come and pick their forms to kick start their campaign to that effect,” he stated.
“What we are saying is that we don’t want a situation where someone will use the party to shut the door against any candidate or declare a particular candidate as ‘persona non granta’ as we move along” the General Secretary noted.
