Dr. Edward Ato Sarpong, a seasoned financial expert and Chartered Accountant, has been appointed as the Acting Managing Director of the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB). His appointment comes at a critical time for the bank, which has faced challenges in recent years.

Born on March 29, 1969, Dr. Sarpong has built an extensive career spanning finance, business consultancy, and media management. His professional journey began humbly as a messenger in the accounts department of Automotive and Technical Services (ATS). Determined to advance his career, he pursued studies at Snaps College of Accountancy before earning his Chartered Accountant certification at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA).

Dr. Sarpong has held key positions in several organizations, including:

  • Chief Accountant at SCOA Ghana Limited (formerly the distributor of Peugeot, Opel, and Chevrolet vehicles in Ghana).
  • Finance Manager & Regional Financial Controller (West Africa) at Africa Online Holdings.
  • Managing Director of Africa Online Ghana Limited and later Regional Managing Director (West Africa) for Africa Online Holdings Limited.
  • Lead Consultant & COO at K-Net Limited, a connectivity solutions provider for banks and corporate institutions.
  • Business Consultant for Multimedia Group Limited (owners of Joy FM, Adom FM, and Multi TV).
  • Managing Director of Ignite Media Group.

Additionally, he has served as a leadership and business consultant, executive coach, speaker, and author. His vast experience in financial management and corporate strategy positions him well to lead ADB through its next phase of growth.
