The National Communications Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, is alleging that the recent arrest and incarceration of Prophet Isaac Owusu Bempah was orchestrated by the camp of Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia.

According to Gyamfi, Owusu Bempah, who is the self-styled spiritual advisor to President Akufo-Addo, is paying for daring to side with Trade Minister Alan Kyeremanten, in his reported presidential ambition which is currently whipping up a serious rivalry between his loyalists and those from the camp of Vice President Bawumia.

“There is schism in the NPP between the Bawumia camp and the Alan Kyeremanten camp, they say Owusu Bempah has prophesied that Bawumia cannot become President. And so Bawumia’s people have decided since he has decided to use his political prophecy against Akufo-Addo’s successor, then we will also show you where power lies; we will force you to either shut up or discredit you,” Sammy Gyamfi revealed.

He opened Pandora’s Box on Accra-based Okay FM where he granted an interview. And the interview has since been providing context to why Owusu Bempah, Akufo-Addo’s political prophet, is all of a sudden being punished by his godson’s government.

Rev. Isaac Owusu Bempah was admitted to the Police Hospital Outpatient Unit shortly after he had been refused bail and remanded by a court over alleged death threats that he and a gang of associate Pastors had issued to fetish priestess turned Christian evangelist, Nana Agradaa.

Sammy Gyamfi explains that Owusu Bempah’s shabby treatment is coming from none other but President Akufo-Addo himself because the man is now abandoning the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia camp to sell his bag of prophecies to Alan Kyeremanten.

“When this matter happened, some thought we would be happy because we are in the NDC because Owusu Bempah is known to be antagonistic towards NDC and John Mahama. We are not friends with him and so many are expecting the NDC to gloat and condemn him. But since the issues happened, I have taken time to investigate and what I have been uncovering is shocking. Many, especially in the NDC think that what is happening is the rule of law, but it is not the law working. It is a smokescreen,” Sammy Gyamfi said.

He added that any claim or gesticulation to the government to the effect that the arrest is an application of the rule of law is a lie and that the claim that Acting IGP is flexing the law is a fallacy.

“What is happening is not the doing of the law or any so-called no-nonsense IGP who is flexing the law. I tell you, with what is happening, if President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Bawumia had not given it their blessing, it would not have happened,” Sammy Gyamfi said

He cited Owusu Bempah’s past transgressions including his threat on Power FM presenter, Mugabe Maase, his vandalism of equipment at Accra based Hot FM and his claim that former President John Mahama had hired assassins to kill President Akufo-Addo as more serious offenses that did not land Owusu Bempah into Police grips.

“If it really were rule of law, then all of these crimes would be prosecuted. If it really is the rule of law, then this issue is the least in the things that Owusu Bempah has done against the law. After all this issue is a misdemeanour, it is not a second-degree felony,” Mr. Gyamfi said.
