Dr. David Wuaku Tipped to Represent Volta Region as Council of State Member

Dr. David Kofi Wuaku, a consultant, has emerged as a significant contender to become the Volta Regional representative in the new Council of State under President John Mahama.
The Council of State, a vital body of distinguished citizens, comprises one member from each of the 16 regions, appointed in accordance with regulations by the Electoral Commission under Article 51 of the Constitution. The selection process involves an electoral college, made up of two representatives from each district in the region nominated by the District Assemblies, as well as 11 other members appointed by the President.
The 57-year-old native of Peki-Avetile is vying for the single slot against three others. Following his declaration of interest, Dr. Wuaku has garnered significant endorsements and well wishes from both local and regional supporters.
Dr. Wuaku, a seasoned consultant, has an impressive professional background. He has served as a consultant at the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development and was the Project Manager for a Technical Co-operation Agreement between the Government of Ghana and Norway until 2023.
With over two decades of experience at the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Wuaku has held various leadership roles, culminating in managing the bank’s first strategic plan. Additionally, he has served on the boards of banks and financial institutions, showcasing his diverse expertise in leadership roles within the finance sector.
Dr. Wuaku’s impressive educational background includes a Doctorate in Business Leadership from the IPAG Business School in France, a Master of Business Administration in Strategic Management from the Paris Graduate School of Management, and a Bachelor of Science in Administration from Central University, Ghana. Furthermore, he is affiliated with several professional bodies, including the International Professional Management Association (I.P.M.A) and the Institute of Directors.
If elected, Dr. Wuaku looks forward to representing the Volta Region, a stronghold of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). He has already engaged with the NDC caucus in Parliament from the region, displaying his proactive approach to garnering support.
Dr. Wuaku’s wealth of experience and expertise make him a strong candidate for the role, and his dedication to public service and strategic leadership positions him as a valuable asset for the Volta Region.
