At a time when cocoa trees have died en masse in the Western North Region, Nana Kwabena Yeboah II, Chief of Abrokofe in the Juaboso District is alleged to have destroyed cocoa trees belonging one Agness Bosompim, a retired teacher of Juaboso.
Apparently not happy with this development the retired teacher has dragged the chief to the Juaboso District Magistrate Court to explain why the chief should subject her to such cruelty.
“If even you think I have trespassed onto your land, you send me to court, but you don’t cut down the cocoa trees which I have toiled to plant with my meager pension entitlements,” she fumed
In her statement of claim, dated August 8, 2020, Antie Agie as she is popularly called avowed that she acquired two pieces of land at different directions at a place commonly known as “Asueba” at Abrokofe from the former chief, Nana Yaw Gyamfi II in 2011.
The statement maintained that having paid for the land with her meager pension entitlement, she went all out to plant cocoa for her grandchild Nana Kojo Addae Adu Ansere, for whom he bought the land.

It averted further that somewhere in July 2019, Antie Agie in the company of Williams Tawiah, one of the boundary owners went to her farm only do discover that one Yaw Addae of Abrokofe in the company of his wife, had cut down her cocoa trees and planted foodstuffs on her portion of the farm.
According to her, when she questioned their action, Yaw Addae yelled that “if you joke with me, what will happen to you, you will not like it”. It was later realized that William Tawiah had also suffered the same fate.
Afraid, she left for Juaboso with the view that Addae would come to Juaboso for amicable settlement of the issues, but that never was as he refused to do so. Subsequently, having exhausted her patience she proceeded to court.
Then on May 28, 2020. The chief, through his lawyers, filed a motion for a rejoinder to the case claiming in a supporting affidavit that he was aware of the suit and that being the chief of the town, his stool has an interest in the case.
The affidavit in paragraph 5 stated that “That I instructed the defendant to work on the land in dispute in my capacity as the occupant of the stool of Sefwi Abrokofe”.
It was later gathered that the new chief, Nana Kwabena Yeboah II is demanding a third share of farms from all tenant farmers on his land no matter how genuine and how the tenant’s tenancy agreement had been
